MUSIC ON A MISSION

KIDS IN TUNE
KIDS IN TUNE program develops body coordination, listening skills, the ability to follow directions, and self-confidence in children of all ages, from birth through school age.  Children and their adult partners learn & participate in singing and playing instruments, games, stories, movement and listening activities.  We offer classes for babies (birth to 24 months), toddlers, and pre-schoolers.
The babies class strengthens the parent-child bond through music, and stimulates their senses through chanting, singing, and moving to music.  The toddlers explore the voice, sound-making materials, and movement to music. The pre-schoolers learn musical concepts, develop a singing voice and rhythmic sense, and explore improvisation on instruments and sing, chant, & move to a variety of music.

Music can stimulate and develop more meaningful and playful communication in children with autism. Music-making involves many of the fundamental elements of social interaction - self-awareness and 'self in relation to another'. Because of this, the musical aspects of interpersonal timing and reciprocity in shared play, turn-taking, listening and responding to another person can be augmented using music for children with autism.
